The Alliance was formed when CNS Carrie Peluso, CRNA Chris Logan, and CNM Laura Sarcone met in 2011. That was the beginning to developing the process to form an Action Coalition, sponsored by the Roberts Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institutes of Medicine for implementation of the goals of the Future of Nursing. One of the items on the agenda was the nursing scope of practice to put forth the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Advanced Practice Registered Nurse consensus model. (APRN Consensus Model) The APRNs in question are the Nurse Practitioners, the Nurse Midwives, the Nurse Anesthetists, and the Clinical Nurse Specialists.
